Quin develops and delivers the technical solutions that help Wildlife ACT achieve its conservation objectives, with a particular focus on Rhino and African Wild Dog programmes. After more than 20 years in fintech, including 15 as an IT solution design engineer, he now applies that technical expertise to large-scale conservation technology across Zululand.
Quin began his career not in conservation but in the fintech sector, working as an IT solution design engineer for over 15 years before moving into a more technical project management role. After two decades in fintech, he made the shift into conservation, bringing a strong technical foundation to his new field.
As Technical Project Manager, Quin is responsible for developing, delivering, and supporting the technology-based solutions that help Wildlife ACT meet its conservation objectives, working across Zululand’s LoRaWAN-connected sites with a particular focus on Rhino and African Wild Dog conservation.
He believes technology is playing an ever-greater role in protecting our natural heritage, and will continue to act as a force multiplier in conservation in the years ahead, with deploying large-scale technology solutions in support of priority species among the achievements he is most proud of.
Outside of work, Quin enjoys running, travelling, technology, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
“Understanding that we are running out of time to conserve what remains of our natural heritage fuels my work in this sector.”
