Hloniphile has led Wildlife ACT’s Community Conservation and Coexistence programme since 2025, overseeing community-based conservation, environmental education, and youth development initiatives across Zululand. With a Master’s in Social Development and a background in fire awareness and sustainable farming practices, she brings strategic leadership and a deep commitment to community-driven conservation.
Hloniphile was raised in KwaZulu-Natal by a forester and farming grandparents, which gave her a deep respect for nature and for every living being’s purpose. She holds a Master’s in Social Development, with a focus on Employee Assistance and Wellness and Community Development, alongside qualifications in community development, psychology, and law.
Her career began in the fire-fighting field, working on fire awareness, climate change, and sustainable farming practices, before she moved into community development and conservation work and joined Wildlife ACT in 2025.
As Programme Manager for Wildlife ACT’s Community Conservation and Coexistence programme, Hloniphile provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for community-based conservation, environmental education, youth development, and coexistence initiatives across communities surrounding several protected areas in Zululand.
She develops and oversees the organisation’s Annual Plan of Operations, coordinates implementation across multiple projects and partnerships, and builds staff capacity through training and mentoring. Guided by the principle of Ubuntu, the understanding that our lives are interconnected, she is committed to preserving God’s creation while helping individuals and communities grow into their full potential.
Outside of work, Hloniphile enjoys art galleries, theatre, museums, and the Drakensberg, alongside writing and storytelling for children. She is also a registered counsellor, supporting individuals and groups through life’s challenges.
“My career is about development, personally and professionally, and seeing communities advancing and becoming more enlightened makes my journey a meaningful one. I am inspired by the great potential that each staff member has, and the greater impact out there is beyond what written words can explain.”
