Katie manages Wildlife ACT’s Trust and Torgos bookkeeping, Seychelles reservations, and fleet, contracts, and asset systems. With a background in bookkeeping since 2013 and a Bachelor of Social Science from the University of Cape Town, she keeps the financial and logistical systems running smoothly behind the scenes of Wildlife ACT’s conservation work.
Katie grew up on an apple farm in Elgin and now lives at the foot of the mountain in Cape Town. Childhood wildlife holidays to Kruger National Park and Hluhluwe Game Reserve gave her an early appreciation for conservation, one she’s been glad to reconnect with through her career. She holds a Bachelor of Social Science from the University of Cape Town and has worked in bookkeeping, largely within the tourism industry, since 2013. She joined Wildlife ACT in 2022.
Katie’s role spans bookkeeping for the Trust and Torgos, reconciling accounts, managing cash flow and budget reporting, and preparing for annual audits, alongside managing insurance, contracts, assets, and the organisation’s fleet.
She also coordinates Seychelles reservations, liaising with the North Island team and volunteers on logistics and participation. She considers Wildlife ACT’s clean annual audits, and the careful preparation behind them, one of her proudest achievements, and describes this as the most interesting role she has ever held.
Outside of work, Katie enjoys hiking, the beach, and spending time with her kids, recently enjoying showing them the places Wildlife ACT works and learning about wildlife together.
