Woolworths MyDifference is the Woolworths loyalty programme that lets members earn rewards while giving to a cause of their choice. Each time a member scans their MyDifference card or app at the till, Woolworths donates a percentage of that purchase to their selected cause, at no extra cost to the shopper. Members can support up to three causes at once. Adding Wildlife ACT as your cause takes under a minute on the Woolworths app and costs nothing.

MyDifference replaced the WRewards and MySchool programmes in July 2025, and the old MySchool cards stopped working on 30 June 2026. Causes chosen under MySchool did not carry over, so every supporter, including those who have backed Wildlife ACT for years, needs to choose Wildlife ACT again. Many supporters chose Wildlife ACT under MySchool, and Wildlife ACT remains grateful for that support, which helped fund the Community and Coexistence Programme throughout that time.

Since the switch, the number of Wildlife ACT’s MyDifference supporters has fallen by more than 95%. If it does not reach 250 by 30 November 2026, funding through the programme will fall by over 70%.

A free competition running throughout October 2026 gives South African supporters the chance to win a Wild Collection hamper as a thank you for adding us as a cause on MyDifference. The full rules are set out below.

What Woolworths MyDifference funding supports

MyDifference funding goes to the Community and Coexistence Programme, which supports both the people living alongside protected areas in Zululand and the wildlife they share the land with. It brings children from neighbouring communities into protected areas to see wildlife first-hand, often for the first time, as a first step in building coexistence between people and the species around them. It also pays for a fast response to incidents of snaring, poisoning, illegal hunting, and livestock predation, work that depends on being able to move quickly once an incident is reported. Other ways to support this work are listed on the Wildlife ACT how to help page.

How to add Wildlife ACT as your MyDifference cause

Open the Woolworths app and tap Loyalty. From there, tap Causes, then select Choose My Own and type Wildlife ACT. Confirm the selection to finish. The entire process takes under a minute and costs nothing, whether or not you supported Wildlife ACT under the old MySchool programme.

A competition to help spread the word

Wildlife ACT is running a free competition on its social media platforms from 1 to 31 October 2026 to encourage more Woolworths shoppers to add Wildlife ACT as their MyDifference cause. The competition is limited to South African supporters aged 18 or older, and the winner receives a Wild Collection hamper. Entry does not require a purchase or adding Wildlife ACT as a cause, although adding Wildlife ACT and sharing your sign-up confirmation earns a bonus entry. The full rules are set out below.

Competition rules

Promoter. The competition is run by the Wildlife ACT Fund Trust (Trust Reg No. IT148/2010, NPO Reg No. 105-423, PBO Tax Exempt No. 930035591), a non-profit organisation based in South Africa. It is not sponsored, endorsed, or administered by Woolworths, Facebook, Instagram, or any other social media platform. Entrants release these platforms from any liability connected with the competition.

Who can enter. The competition is limited to South African supporters aged 18 or older. Wildlife ACT staff, the prize sponsor, and their immediate family members may not enter.

How to enter. Entry is free. A purchase is not required, and the only cost is the standard data charge from your mobile network provider. Between 00:00 on 1 October 2026 and 23:59 on 31 October 2026 (South African Standard Time), do all of the following on the competition post on a Wildlife ACT social media platform, such as Instagram or Facebook. Like the post, follow Wildlife ACT on that platform, tag a Woolworths shopper in the comments, and share the post to your story. Each person may enter once.

Bonus entry. A bonus entry is available to anyone who also shares a screenshot of their sign-up confirmation after adding Wildlife ACT as a cause on the Woolworths app, tagging Wildlife ACT. A bonus entry counts as a second entry in the draw.

Closing date. The competition closes at 23:59 on 31 October 2026. Entries received after this time will not be counted.

How the winner is chosen. One winner will be selected by random draw using a random name generator app, from all valid entries received during the competition period. The draw will take place within five working days of the closing date.

Announcing the winner. The winner will be announced on Wildlife ACT’s social media platforms and contacted directly. The winner must reply within seven days with their delivery details. If they do not, the prize is forfeited and a new winner will be drawn. The winner may decline to be named or photographed, and is not required to attend any event or take part in any marketing activity. A list of winners is available on request.

The prize. The prize is one hamper containing a 2027 daily planner, coffee from Soaring Wild, and a pair of Rhino socks from the Wild Collection range. The prize cannot be transferred or exchanged for cash or any other item. Wildlife ACT will arrange delivery to an address in South Africa at no cost to the winner within 30 days of receiving their delivery details.

Disqualification. Wildlife ACT may disqualify entries that are fraudulent, use fake accounts or automated tools, or break a platform’s terms of use.

Personal information. Entrants’ names and social media handles are used only to run the competition, announce the winner, and keep the records the law requires. They are not shared with third parties or used for marketing without separate consent.

Rules and records. These rules are available free of charge on request from media@wildlifeact.com. Wildlife ACT keeps a copy of the rules and the competition records for three years after the closing date.

Every sign-up makes a difference

Wildlife ACT’s work depends on supporters who show up in small, consistent ways, and the MyDifference community has been one of those ways for years. Thank you to everyone who has chosen Wildlife ACT as their cause so far, whether that support started under MySchool over a decade ago or began the moment MyDifference launched. Each supporter added is a small, repeating contribution that adds up: it funds a child’s first visit to a protected area, a response team reaching a snared animal in time, and the ongoing presence Wildlife ACT maintains across its protected areas in Zululand. Reaching 250 supporters by 30 November keeps that funding in place, and keeps this part of Wildlife ACT’s conservation work able to continue at the pace it needs to.
